BE FEARLESS

Key Themes at the Modern Woman Show
Money & Investing – Love it or loathe it
Research highlights that women are generally more risk adverse than men, prompting us to question whether this trait acts as a barrier for women in raising investment and effectively managing their finances. Our experienced panel will explore avenues for boosting women's confidence when making personal investments and discuss strategies to make our money go further on both personal and business fronts.
Women-owned businesses receive less than 1pence for every £1 in VC investment. Our focus shifts to the challenges impeding women from securing more investment, and we explore potential solutions to overcome these hurdles. Simultaneously, we delve into the advantages and disadvantages of organic growth as opposed to pursuing external investment.
Inclusive Evolution: Fostering Positive Change in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
Despite positive strides in ED&I, there are numerous areas that require ongoing attention and proactive measures. Ensuring employees are heard and understanding how to communicate our wants and needs is vital for a happier workplace and bolstering staff retention.
We explore how businesses can embrace neurodiverse talent, fostering inclusivity for career success irrespective of background or identity.
Addressing the rising challenges of burnout and loneliness in women, we explore preventatives and remedies for individuals experiencing overwhelm. Additionally, we discuss the sensitive subject of grief addressing situations such as losing a loved one, experiencing miscarriage, or going through divorce. Conclusively, we offer insights into revitalising team passion, empowering both employees and business owners to excel and fulfil their ambitions.
The Mature Workforce – The stuff no one talks about
The Mature Workforce signifies a transformation in our workplaces, influenced by factors like financial considerations, increased life expectancy, and a desire for personal reinvention. We highlight the considerable value this demographic brings, exploring methods to harness their talents and mentor the next generation. This also brings to light the topic around menopause, discussing symptoms, effective management at work, and the essential support women need.
As we navigate life's journey, many become caregivers for aging parents, with the associated strain and concerns impacting our work. In this conversation, we explore coping mechanisms and emphasize the importance of realising that individuals facing these situations are not alone.
Shaping Tomorrow: Advancing Toward Netzero and Beyond
We bring together industry leaders to address the rising concern of talent shortages in the property and construction sectors.
Our discussion focuses on initiatives to attract more women to the industry and ensure their progression into senior and leadership roles. Additionally, we explore the impact of retrofitting on achieving Net Zero targets and improving EPC ratings whilst also addressing associated costs.
Even with the expected decrease in interest rates, we raise the questions as to whether housing can achieve a level of affordability that makes it feasible for a larger portion of the population to enter the property market, shifting the perception of ownership from a luxury to an accessible opportunity.
Driving Innovation, Powering Progress
Even though women often drive household car-buying decisions, it's concerning that only 12% of the UK automotive workforce and 24.7% across Europe is comprised of women. Our expert panel, consisting of industry leaders, will discuss ways to make the sector more attractive to women and explore the challenges they face in progressing to senior roles. Additionally, the panel will examine the influence of technology on the automotive industry during this dynamic and innovative period, looking ahead to the future of electric vehicles and the impact of autonomous driving on our lives.
Global Beats, Global Business: Music as a Universal Language
We bring together leading figures encompassing record labels, technology, artists, radio, and events to illuminate the current challenges facing the music business.
This includes discussions on how artists can enhance their earnings and how emerging talents can break into the scene. We discuss why women are still underrepresented and what is holding back their progress.
Technology has transformed the industry, making music more accessible, but at what cost to the artists, producers, and DJs? Our conversation explores the pros and cons of emerging technology. Additionally, we delve into the intrinsic value of live music experiences and understand how consumers choose to engage with and experience their music.
Speed Mentoring
Looking for that extra guidance and support to take your career or business up a gear? Or perhaps advice around a specific area of your work you want to excel in? Our speed mentoring session is the perfect opportunity to meet with a number of qualified mentors/coaches with various skill sets and industry experience in a relaxed yet professional manner.
Hannah Beko
The Authentic Lawyer Coach
As a practicing commercial property lawyer (and legal business owner) I know very well the pressures and demands inside a legal career. In 2016 I founded Authentically Speaking my training and coaching consultancy for the legal profession. It’s mission is to change the culture in law so that stress isn’t simply accepted as part and parcel of the job and no one is leaving the career they trained so hard to join, because they can’t reconcile their career with their family/life. As the author of The Authentic Lawyer (2022) I am passionate about encouraging more authenticity inside the law for the benefit of clients, firms and lawyers. My mix of training & coaching/mentoring enables my clients to create the careers and lives they want to lead.
Patricia Seabright
Founder, Archimedes Consulting
Patricia has been coaching since 2004 and has worked with hundreds of women (and men) over that time. She is currently undertaking a masters in executive coaching at Ashridge. As a coach she particularly focuses on working with women to help them overcome the challenges they face in the workplace. What she has observed throughout her career is that women can be held back by not recognising the (sometimes subtle) challenges and bias that surround them; these challenges and biases can negatively affect women’s careers, whether they realise it or not. She is passionate about gender balance in the workplace. During lock down, she made good use of her down time by writing a book, “She Said!” about the women being heard, which became an Amazon best seller. Like all executives, the pressure of the workplace for women is often intense and Patricia’s coaching seeks to provide the precious opportunity to have space and support to identify and process all the challenges faced. She supports her clients in formulating and executing plans for personal and professional progress.
