Avons 100K donation aims to improve education and leadership opportunities for girls and women worldwide
The Avon Foundation for Women (from Avon Inc) is donating $100,000 to help women and girls get equal access to education.
The donation goes to the Malala fund, which works to tackle barriers currently stopping 130 million girls from getting an education at school, barriers like war, poverty, and discrimination which have long impacted a woman access to both education and leadership.
Malala was created by Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, and her father, Ziauddin. Brazil is Avons biggest market, and that’s where the money is going:
“In Brazil, indigenous and Afro-Brazilian girls are disproportionately marginalized and struggle to complete their education, Malala Fund’s Gulmakai in Brazil are fighting for their future and we are grateful to the Avon Foundation for Women for investing in their work.” Malala Yousafzai.
